Only 3 days left! Looks like all will be set for my first exhibition taking place in Lahinch Art Gallery, Main Street, Lahinch Co. Clare. Hopefully it will go OK and i’ll be able to make up SOME of the cost of putting this on
Prints range in size from A3 420mm (width) x whatever height to A1 800mm width. All photos are available in multiple sizes by order and all photos are limited edition out of 50.
I have received fantastic help from people like Carmel & Rosie Kenny, owners of Kenny’s Art Gallery, Michael Vaughan proprietor of Vaughan Lodge, Lahinch and Patrick Egan of Egan’s Pub, Liscannor. I’d also like to mention my excellent framer, Stephen Swail who got me out of a last minute bind! Wicklow Glass & Glazing. Also, a special thanks goes to Gerry Collison, Editor of the Clare People and last but not least, Martina Costello.
Lets hope I actually sell some now!
After several phone calls from a friend letting me know he was taking off from the top of Bray head in a Para Glider, yesterday I got a chance to head up there with my daughter. I twas a beautiful evening and she really enjoyed the hike up. All of these were taken with my amazing 5dMkII using the only lens I brought 70-200mm F4 L.
Looks like my first photo exhibition will go ahead as planned kicking off on the August Bank Holiday Weekend on Saturday 31st July. All the the photos shown will be based on my County Clare walkabouts. Here are a few of the images that may (or may not) be shown.

Having been asked several times if I was going to add the ability to buy photos from my site I have finally got around to testing some solutions. Current solution is a very basic one. Simply add the photograph you want to purchase to the basket and then checkout via paypal. You can see the shop here.
Finally got to do a bit of a walkabout today with the new camera. Interesting test for it as the light was pretty bad. I of course used a tripod and exposures were bracketed. Most were shot at ISO100 f22 slower than a second.
the first 2 were post processed in Lightroom from a straight shot, the next was merged as a HDR image in photomatix then touched up in lightroom.
Well, this was the last expedition with my Canon 40d as i’m finally taking the plunge to full frame with a Canon 5d MkII. This was a great trip and a stunning place to photograph. I was there to ski so, even though I traipsed all my gear over, I only too the 40d and 24-70mm with me on a daily basis. When I return (and i definitely will) i’ll take more as i’m more familiar with the area now.
Managed to get out on a beautiful day around new years while down in county Clare.

During the ‘Big Freeze’ i decided i’d climb up the top of Bray Head again to try and capture the surrounding views. Think I might have to venture up the Sugarloaf one day.
You can view the rest of the photos I took that day here….
Was a beautiful day last Saturday so i decided to wander to the top of Bray Head. Had been a while since I was up there and I have never taken any pics. So, off I went. When I got up there I was kind of kicking myself I didn’t bring my tri-pod, the autumn light wasn’t the best and i shot most of these with a shutter speed of about 100-150, barely enough to counter hand shake. Next time I’ll bring the tri-pod!
You may notice that, unusually for me, I ended up processing a couple of these in colour. I wanted to get that high contrast look to the shots and even though I didn’t use a UV filter I managed to get the desired effect in trusty photoshop.
I used the Sigma 10-17mm lens for most of the shots, a lens I’m delighted with and use regularly now. Still feel the need for more resolution and/or clarity. Tripod would have helped tho! I have added the images to the landscape section here.
Just got a chance to add some more photos I’ve taken over the past couple of months. Think I might just have to categorise them moving forward! The latest pics have been shot on my newly acquired Canon 40D which i absolutely LOVE! I also got my hands on a fantastic Sigma 10-17mm wide angle which I have used quite a bit. I found it really works well in cities. My quest for clarity continues tho, maybe some day i’ll have a 5dMkIII with a couple of L lenses
