had been trying to get some more dramatic sea shots around Liscannor bay for a while but the weather and I never seemed to get along. Last week I managed to get a few on a day that had a decent swell.

Sunday, February 7th, 2010Well, this was the last expedition with my Canon 40d as i’m finally taking the plunge to full frame with a Canon 5d MkII. This was a great trip and a stunning place to photograph. I was there to ski so, even though I traipsed all my gear over, I only too the 40d and 24-70mm with me on a daily basis. When I return (and i definitely will) i’ll take more as i’m more familiar with the area now.

Bray Head Big Freeze

During the ‘Big Freeze’ i decided i’d climb up the top of Bray Head again to try and capture the surrounding views. Think I might have to venture up the Sugarloaf one day.

Was a beautiful day last Saturday so i decided to wander to the top of Bray Head. Had been a while since I was up there and I have never taken any pics. So, off I went. When I got up there I was kind of kicking myself I didn’t bring my tri-pod, the autumn light wasn’t the best and i shot most of these with a shutter speed of about 100-150, barely enough to counter hand shake. Next time I’ll bring the tri-pod!
You may notice that, unusually for me, I ended up processing a couple of these in colour. I wanted to get that high contrast look to the shots and even though I didn’t use a UV filter I managed to get the desired effect in trusty photoshop.
I used the Sigma 10-17mm lens for most of the shots, a lens I’m delighted with and use regularly now. Still feel the need for more resolution and/or clarity. Tripod would have helped tho! I have added the images to the landscape section here.
